If you can’t throw yourself a party, what’s the point?
That was our train of thought when brainstorming earlier this year about how we wanted to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. Thriving as a non-profit startup in an incredibly competitive and difficult sector to break into, much less be successful in for 10 years, it felt like it was time for us to host our friends and family to toast our tenure in open source.
On June 14th, 2025, surrounded by loved ones and friends of open source OSTIF feasted, drank, and laughed. We watched memories of past conferences and shared pictures of collaborators unable to join us on a slideshow. Adults shot pool while kids played with the decorative balloons. We all shared Bang Bang Pie and Lobo Pizza while listening to Amir and Helen briefly talk about what OSTIF, and the community there in spirit and body, meant to us. It truly was a night to remember, and everyone who attended mentioned what a wonderful venue it was to honor the work performed over the decade.
While this party was a particularly big celebration of the anniversary, we plan on doing much more than just toasting each other to mark this chapter. OSTIF is hosting a meetup later this year with our collaborators and partners to dive into our lessons learned, experiences, and future strategy for open source project security (RSVP to our Meetup Calendar to receive updates). We have 10 Year Anniversary teeshirts and stickers to share at conferences, and several talks across the globe and country coming up that would not have been possible without the years and years of foundational work put in by Amir and Derek. Looking forward to the Open Source Summit EU and NA, OpenSSF Community Day Europe, LF Energy Summit, Open Source Days, and KubeCon ATL!
Below is a selection of pictures from the party, as well as from the presentation we showed during it. If you attended, thank you so much for coming in person to celebrate with us. If we were separated by oceans, miles, or the Puerto Rican Independence Day Parade, we appreciate your well wishes and thoughts even more.
